Impression

  • Kirakuan is very nice. The localisation is perfect for visiting Kyoto.
    Mako is also helpfull and give us some good tips to discover Kyoto.
    The house is very clean and well equiped: it's the perfect house for spending few days in kyoto!

  • Staying in Mako's Machiya completes a Kyoto experience. We had no qualms with spending half a day in the house just enjoying the smells and elegance of the various designs. Every detail has been carefully thought through. Simple things such as the incredibly water absorbing clay mat which welcomes your first step out of the shower, to the small plastic box affixed to the wall to hold the CD player remote, all contribute to making your stay enjoyable and relaxing.
    There's also a supermarket nearby so you can put the kitchen into good use. All necessary manuals for the electronics have also been translated.
    Mako is a wonderful host - eager to please, always willing to book restaurant in advance and full of tips about the neighbourhood. She also has a great collection of maps of Kyoto and surrounding areas.
  • We stayed in the "Kirakuan Modern Machiya" for three nights in August, and we can say with utter confidence that this was absolutely THE BEST place we got to stay in -- during the entire 3 week trip to Japan (!!).
    Super modern and technologically advanced; equipped with all you need and more; immaculately clean; beautifully decorated; very sweet, kind and polite staff (who spoke good English); very homey atmosphere; great air conditioning; close to a bus station...
    What can we say more... To anyone who thinks of renting an apartment in Kyoto all we have to say is: GO!! (Actually, RUN!!).
    You just can't get any better than this!!
    We shall definitely book it again -- months ahead of time, if needed -- next time we go to Kyoto.

    We can allow a japanes house, a bedroom with the futon ...
    It' s wonderfull to live in a house, when we see a lot of buiding
    Only one regret, about the possibility to have a living room

    Thanks to Saki of her kindless and research for daily information to facilitate our stay and visit or shopping in Kyoto, but also in Tokyo
    We 'll hope come back in Japan, and we recommand Saki and her house to stay in Kyoto.
  • I spent 3 nights in this lovely kirakuan and i was very happy i chose here.
    It is a few minutes walk to nearby gijo station or bus stop and nearby to a 24hour supermarket.
    Right from the start when i saw the kitchen from the walkway i fell in love with this accommodation.
    My friends and i loved the kitchen and dinning area so much. The display was really homely and fully equipped from tea/coffee to pans and kettle.
    Also, the bathroom is nicely done up with amazing bathtub where you can relax first thing in the morning or late at night when you get back.
    The 2 rooms above was nicely decorated and i was surprised that i love my futon bedding which i had previously not liked before.In between the rooms is a connected toilet and that is really convenient.
    The bonus for me is to have known saki. She was very helpful and kind to assist me with all my inquires and explained everything in details to me regarding the house.
    The only problem we faced was the mosquitoes. Maybe because it is summertime when i stay, there were mosquitoes in the house that we need to burn the incense to get rid of the mozzies.
    But overall, i love kirakua stay.
  • Mako and hr assistant Saki were the perfect host. The Machiya was beautifully decorated and supplied with every luxury you could imagine in their Tokyo home.
    My son and I followed most of their suggestions about touring Kyoto and the surrounding historical sites. The home was new, spacious, and well decorated. There was even a downstairs shower to boast about.
    We would recommend their location without hesitation and look forward to a possible return to this centrally located townhouse.
  • The property was perfect for three guests. We stayed for a full week and found it to be precisely what we needed. All the amenities were top-notch. The kitchen was well equipped. We had a very relaxing time. I will definitely enquire about the property again on my next trip to Kyoto.
